Core concepts
The vocabulary RevenueHog uses everywhere, including workspaces, apps and platforms, sources, events, proceeds, environments, sync runs and hidden apps.
These terms appear throughout the product and these docs. For the complete list, see the Glossary.
Workspace
Everything you connect belongs to a workspace (an organization). Credentials, apps, events, team members and billing are scoped to it. A new account gets a workspace named after you, which owners and admins can rename. See Workspaces.
App
An app is one product RevenueHog tracks. Each has a platform:
| Platform | Created from | Identity |
|---|---|---|
| iOS (App Store) | Your App Store Connect app list, automatically | Apple ID (adamId) and bundle ID |
| Android | Each package name you add to a Google Play connection, or a package that sends a notification first | Package name |
| Web | Each Stripe product you select at connect time, or the Stripe account itself when it has no products | Stripe product ID or account ID |
Every app has a store name and an optional nickname. For App Store titles with a keyword tail ("Habit Loop: Daily Streaks"), the nickname is seeded with the brand half. An Apple-side rename never overwrites a nickname.
Hidden apps
Disconnecting a Stripe or Google Play connection does not delete data. Its apps move to Hidden apps with their history intact, and reconnecting brings them back.
Source
A source is a connection RevenueHog reads from: App Store Connect, Stripe, Google Play or Apple Ads. See Data sources.
Event
An event is one thing that happened to a customer: a purchase, renewal, trial start, conversion, cancellation, refund or billing problem. Events show as badges in the feed (BUY, RENEW, TRIAL, CONV, CHURN, RFND, RISK and others). See Event types.
Gross, proceeds and net
- Gross is what the customer paid.
- Proceeds are what you keep after the store's commission (Apple and Google) or Stripe's observed fees.
- Revenue figures are shown in USD, converted at the rate for each sale's date. See Currency conversion.
Apple's payout reports, under Payouts, remain the source of truth for exactly what Apple pays.
Environment
Apple notifications come from Production or Sandbox. Each app has one ingest URL that serves both; Apple marks the environment in the payload. Sandbox events stay out of the live feed and alerts unless you turn on Sandbox in feed or Sandbox alerts in notification preferences. Stripe test-mode keys are labelled "test mode".
Sync run
Each scheduled or manual pull is a sync run with a status (queued, running, success, error) and live progress. The setup wizard and the backfill banner read from it.
Ingest URL and forwarding
Each App Store app has an Apple ingest URL (/api/s2s/apple/<token>) that Apple posts notifications to. The token authenticates the app and is never logged. Forwarding endpoints relay Apple's exact signed payload to your own server. See Event forwarding.
MRR and subscribers
MRR and subscriber counts are computed from daily subscription snapshots, one per source: Apple's subscription report, a daily Stripe snapshot, and a Google Play snapshot built from its subscription mirror. See Metric definitions.
